“Reading somebody else’s Diary is an amazingly uncivilised thing to do,” he said. “A Diary is personal. It contains the Innermost and Most Highly Deeply Intense Private Thoughts of its owner, and can reveal things about one’s self that are ordinarily kept out of the Public Eye. Even your asking me if you can read my Diary - as much as I appreciate both your interest and the fact that you are the best uncle in the world, and I love you - is stepping way over a Boundary. I’m sure you understand the necessity for Boundaries in all this, Uncle Georgie, am I correct?” he said.

“Yes, I am completely familiar with the need for Boundaries, probably, and try my best to step over them whenever possible,” I said. “Without Boundaries,” I continued to explain to him, “we’d never know what we’re truly capable of accomplishing. Take it from me,” I told him, “you can never go too far when it comes to destroying Boundaries, Kevin,” I said.

Kevin just rolled his eyes at me and said, “You have it completely backwards, uncle. But somehow, I’m not surprised at that.” Then he asked, “Are you going to try to tell me that, if you had a Diary, you’d just let it out there, for the whole world to see and read? You’d just let anybody come along and bee privy to your most Private, Innermost Thoughts and Feelings?”

“Of course,” I said. I do it all the time.

“That’s sheer foolishness, uncle,” Kevin told me. “Certainly, you’re aware of the significant risks you’re taking with your privacy?”

Actually, I’d never thought about it, but I’m gonna go outside (beecause it’s a beeautiful day) and think about that right now.
